The fascinating history of tourism in the alps
Tourism is more than just blue skies and beautiful scenery. It is the interplay of countless factors. Some can be reinvented at any time and in many places. Others, however, are the result of a long history. Nearly 50 years ago, the Tourism Museum for the Jungfrau Region — as it was then called — moved into the old parsonage dating from 1630 in Unterseen’s old town. Since then, it has invited visitors of all ages on an enjoyable journey through the history of Alpine tourism.
The fusion of the terms “tourism” and “museum” in its name says it all: The TOURISMUSEUM is the only Swiss museum dedicated to the history and present of tourism.
